The items were sold on Blocket, and they saw that there was an interest and demand for unique home furnishings. This was the start of what would eventually become the Dusty Deco brand. Their first purchasing trip was to the US, where the focus was on finding items with an industrial style. The finds were sold in their own store located at Gärdet in Stockholm. After two stores in Södermalm and a smaller store in Östermalm, they finally opened a large store of 600 sqm at Brahegatan 21 in central Stockholm. Now the focus was no longer on industrial furniture. The store was filled with carefully selected design classics, furniture with a visual expression, and contemporary art.
A new concept takes shape
Dusty Deco’s travels and meetings with interesting people motivated, inspired and enabled them to grow. Their journey was fascinating, and much would change in the next decade. The basic idea, however, is the same today as it was ten years ago: to only buy things that they really love and would like to have in their own home. In late 2019/ early 2020, Edin and Lina decided to close the store on Brahegatan and take the next step in the company’s development. The focus would now be on producing self-made furniture, rugs, lighting, and interior decoration. The DD Collection is Dusty Deco’s first furniture collection and is inspired by all the things they have discovered over the years. Their latest collection is characterized by a colonial style mixed with Italian 1960s/70s. Common to the products in the series is their luxurious and contemporary design.
