Airam

Airam is a privately owned Finnish company established as far back as 1921. It has a long and fascinating history. Airam produces bulbs for flashlights, and repairs electronic lamps in Helsinki.

In the early years, it also made glass lamps and later also produced glass inners for thermos flasks. During the Second World War, Airam mended old lamps for lack of materials, and a black version of their traditionally red thermos flask was produced for the medical corps. Airam made its international breakthrough in 1952, at the Helsinki Olympics. They designed the large scoreboard, also controlled by a representative of Airam. The result was a success, and Airam was entrusted with the same task at the 1971 European Athletics Championships and the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games.

An innovative company with a wide product range

Airam has come up with a number of innovative solutions for the lighting industry over the decades. For example, they have developed different types of lamps that provide natural and pleasant light. But it is not only in innovation that Airam is at the forefront. In 1960, the WIR lamp won a design prize at the Milan Triennale. The lamp was developed in collaboration with the world-famous Finnish designer Tapio Wirkkala. Today, Airam is known for its wide range of light sources for both domestic and professional use. Their range is constantly expanding with new products in the retail, professional, and home lighting segments.

During the 1990s and 2000s, the range was expanded to include everything from street lighting and spotlights, to LED and solar products. Thanks to its long experience and deep knowledge of the Scandinavian market, Airam is able to offer a wide range of light sources to meet the many specific requirements.
