The elegant Angel Wing A805 floor lamp was designed by Alvar Aalto in 1954 for the Finnish furniture manufacturer Artek. A805 is a timeless icon in functionalist furniture design and is also called the "angel wing" due to the special appearance of the luminaire in profile. When Alvar Aalto was a child, he was constantly enchanted by filtered and subdued light, which he later explained "like the light streaming in through grandmother's lace curtains on a warm summer day". This resulted in his lighting design taking on the same feeling in the form of light, which is no exception for the beautiful and eye-catching Angel Wing lamp.
The Angel Wing A805 has a beautiful and unique hand-riveted, white-lacquered shade made of steel slats and a stand covered in black leather. Between the lampshade and the leather upholstery, an elegant detail is also visible in the form of an upper part that is available in either polished brass or nickel-plated brass.
