Domus Lounge Chair

Domus Lounge Chair from Artek is an elegant armchair designed by Ilmari Tapiovaara in 1946 for the Domus Academica student housing complex in Helsinki. The model is part of the Domus Collection and bears clear characteristics from the series, not least the short armrests and the enveloping construction in molded plywood.

The seat and back are shaped as a continuous element, which gives the chair a harmonious and light expression. The high back offers generous support and makes the armchair particularly well suited for longer moments of rest, reading and conversation in living rooms, lounge areas and other relaxed environments.

The chair is manufactured in Finland and is available with a frame in solid birch or solid oak. The seat core consists of molded birch veneer and the surface is offered in birch veneer or oak veneer. For a softer expression, upholstered versions are also available in fabric or leather with PU foam.
