118.3 Random is a pendant lamp from the lighting brand Bocci. The lamp is part of the 118 series and consists of three hand-blown glass pendants attached to a single canopy. The series explores the ability of glass to retain forms created while the material is in its molten state. During the blowing process, delicate, feather-like formations develop inside each glass sphere, preserving transient impressions made during production. When illuminated from within, these internal forms become more pronounced through the interaction between light and glass. Their details can evoke natural structures such as a bird’s wing or a flower in bloom. Each hand-blown element therefore draws on the material properties of glass and its ability to preserve temporary shapes formed during production. 118.3 Random brings three pendants together in a single installation and can be used as suspended lighting in a range of interiors.
