Grandma Pattern 2 is a hand-knotted wool rug from the Franco-Italian brand cc-tapis. The rug is part of the Grandma Patterns collection, designed by Dutch artist Rop van Mierlo. The series is based on the idea of merging classic tartan patterns with a free and intuitive visual language, where unpredictability takes center stage.

The pattern results from an experimental painting technique where pigment is applied to wet paper and spreads without control. This method is translated into textile through hand-knotted surfaces with a long, dense pile. The result is a rug that interprets grid structures with intentional blur – a pattern that feels organic rather than repetitive.
