Drachmann is an outdoor chair from Fritz Hansen in Denmark, designed by Danish designer Bernt Santesson. The chair is part of the Drachmann collection, whose design language draws inspiration from the garden of Danish poet and artist Holger Drachmann. The collection balances Nordic nostalgia with modern simplicity and has a distinct, classic expression.
Drachmann is made from teak and designed to withstand varying weather conditions. Over time, the wood develops a natural silver-grey patina that changes the character of the chair and gives the material a softer expression. The chair works both as a standalone seat and as a dining chair around a table, making it suitable for different types of outdoor settings. Bernt Santesson was born in Aalborg in northern Jutland and draws inspiration from the landscape of the area where he grew up.
