Piola is a ceiling lamp designed in 2017 by Christophe Mathieu for Marset. A central metal pillar holds up a more äthan five-metre-long spiral-shaped, laminated band that encloses, protects and diffuses the light in its surroundings. Several different types of light coexist here; a downward direct light, a reflected indirect light and a light that sneaks in between the edges of the spiral and illuminates the lamp itself with a warm and cosy glow.

The Piola series is all about imitating real space, searching for the balance between light diffusion and shadow creation. The spiral shape of the luminaire breaks the repetition of ordered lines and offers different looks from different angles. At the same time, the central metal column provides a symmetry and solidity that supports and enhances the visual impact of the luminaire. Piola is available in four colors: white, green, pink and graphite green.
