Verk – Production, Materials, and Origin

Verk is a Swedish furniture company with production entirely located in Sweden. The work is based on a consistent use of domestic raw materials, where every part of the furniture can be traced to its origin. Wood, metal, stone, glass, and textiles are sourced from Swedish suppliers and processed locally, ensuring control over both quality and the manufacturing process.

The material choices are consistently precise. The wood is Swedish, surface treatments are based on linseed oil and beeswax, and leather is vegetable-tanned. Even details like screw connections are developed in collaboration with Swedish industry. Stone materials, such as limestone from Gotland, and glass from Swedish glassworks contribute to an expression where each component is carefully defined based on its properties.

Form and Construction

The design is characterized by restrained lines and a clear constructive logic. The objects are designed to be long-lasting, both in material and expression. Rather than following temporary trends, Verk works with proportions, balance, and function that endure over time.

The construction is often visible and integrated into the form, giving the furniture direct readability. It's not about decorative additions, but about how materials and joinery interact. The result is furniture where structure and expression are closely linked.

Designers and Collaborations

Verk collaborates with designers who share their view on the importance of materials and the role of construction in the design process. Among these are Carl-Axel Acking, whose chair Trienna 2.0 demonstrates precise craftsmanship in form and technique. Linn Fredlund and David Ericsson also contribute with works where proportion, function, and material meet in a concentrated expression.

Through these collaborations, a collection is developed where each object holds a clear position, while the whole is unified by a shared vision of design.

Sustainability as a Method

For Verk, sustainability is not an add-on but a starting point throughout the entire process. By working with local resources and manufacturing, the need for transportation is reduced, while knowledge and production are kept within the country. The ambition is to create furniture that can be used for a long time, both through its construction and through an expression that is not dependent on short-term changes.

This approach also includes a critical view of standardized certifications, where the focus is instead on actual material knowledge and transparency in every step.

A Cohesive Furniture Collection

Verk's collection includes seating, tables, and objects for both private and public environments. Common to all is a consistent processing of materials and a clear formal direction. The furniture is designed to function in various contexts, where its properties emerge in relation to the space and its use.

By working closely with materials, production, and design, Verk has established a working method where every part is carefully considered. This results in a collection characterized by precision, continuity, and a clear focus on how furniture is constructed and used over time.
