Akari 16A is a pendant lamp by Vitra designed by Japanese–American sculptor, architect and designer Isamu Noguchi in 1951. The lamp is handcrafted from shoji paper, paper made from the bark of the mulberry tree, and is supported on a structure of steel wires.Akari 16A is part of the Akari lamp range, a range of lamps designed by Noguchi and handcrafted by Japanese artisans. Noguchi's work is artistically linked to abstract expressionism and his design style came to have a great influence on 1950s design.All the light sculptures in the Akari range are marked with a logo representing the sun and moon, reinforcing the authenticity of each product.
