Stool 60 Kontrasti is a special edition of Alvar Aalto's iconic stool for Artek that celebrates the 90th anniversary of this classic construction. The original stool was designed back in 1936 and today represents the core of functional furniture design with its simple shape and clean lines. It consists of three slightly curved legs which together are assembled with a round seat. The unique curvature of the legs has become Aalto's most well-known signature and what he is particularly characterized by. His innovative technique resulted in the wood type being able to take on a more organic form, which was completely ground-breaking at the time. The stool is made of lacquered birch and is designed with an exciting pattern.
