Hans J. Wegner designed the CH88 chair in 1955 for Carl Hansen & Søn, but until the 100th anniversary of his collaboration with Wegner, it had only been a prototype on a desk. The chair is now produced in several versions and has become a modern favorite. The back is made of solid oak or beech wood in a number of different finishes and colors. The chair has a stainless steel frame, but is also available in a version with a black steel base. The seat is upholstered with flame-retardant cold foam.
