Tree Dining Table

Tree Table is a table from Danish brand dk3, designed by Jacob Plejdrup in 2011, which further develops the Nordic tradition of plank tables in a contemporary, pared-back form. Solid wood and a simple steel construction come together in a balanced composition where the natural character of the materials is allowed to take centre stage.

The tabletop in soap-treated oak consists of two full planks from the same tree trunk, with natural edges that have been carefully hand-sanded. Grain patterns, knots and small cracks appear as part of the design expression, while the surface is also treated to ensure everyday practicality. Each table is individually numbered, giving it a distinct identity. The base in lacquered brushed steel provides a stable and understated foundation that keeps the focus on the wood’s shape and texture. Tree Table is a plank table where craftsmanship and construction work in harmony. The wide planks naturally move over time, which may result in variations in shape depending on light, temperature and humidity—qualities that enhance the table’s living, organic character.
