Allegretto Assai is a pendant lamp from Foscarini, Italy, designed by Atelier Oï in 2009. The lamp is characterised by its golden appearance and airy construction, in which slender metal rods come together to form a three-dimensional volume.
The slender metal elements are balanced against one another and take on their characteristic form through gravity. The result is an open, graphic structure that gives the lamp a distinct spatial presence while retaining a sense of lightness. The form changes visually depending on the viewing angle, creating a varied interplay of lines, negative space and light. When Allegretto Assai is switched on, the golden tone of the metal structure is highlighted, while the many lines create a warm, decorative glow in the room. The combination of the open construction and carefully balanced proportions gives the pendant lamp a sculptural expression in which metal, light and space interact.
