Chouchin 1 is a pendant lamp from Foscarini, Italy, designed by Ionna Vautrin in 2011. The design draws inspiration from traditional Japanese lanterns, reinterpreting their familiar form in a contemporary, pared-back expression.
The lamp is made of blown glass and has a warm orange shade that gives Chouchin 1 its distinctive character. The orange surface does not allow light to pass through, so the light is instead concentrated in the white lower section. When the lamp is switched on, a luminous ring appears here, clearly defining the end of the form and creating a subtle contrast between colour and light. Chouchin 1 can be used as a single pendant or combined with several lamps in a larger composition. It is available in two dimmable versions: one with a replaceable E27 LED light source and one with an integrated LED. The version with integrated LED is compatible with PUSH and DALI dimming.
