Lilium is an armchair from Fritz Hansen in Denmark, designed by BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group. The chair is part of the Lilium collection, a contemporary interpretation of outdoor furniture that is also designed for indoor use. The pared-back design language combines clean lines with a lightweight construction and a focus on comfort.
The seat and backrest are made from solid, untreated teak and combined with a slender frame in brushed stainless steel. The backrest flexes slightly when sitting down, contributing to responsive seating comfort. The seat and backrest are mounted from the front, a considered construction detail that gives the back of the chair a clean appearance without visible screws. Lilium has a seat height of 45 cm and is designed for relaxed moments both outdoors and indoors. BIG, founded by Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, works across disciplines including architecture and design. In Lilium, the studio’s contemporary approach is expressed through the interplay of materials, function and construction.
