PK23 Lounge Chair

The PK23 Lounge Chair is an armchair from Danish Fritz Hansen. It was designed in 1954 by Poul Kjærholm, a trained cabinetmaker and designer with a particular interest in construction and materials such as wood and steel. PK23 was originally only a sketch and was not put into production at the time of the design. The model represents a step between Kjærholm's earlier PK4 and PK0 and the structural design language that later came to characterize his work. The lounge chair has a wide, low design intended for relaxed sitting and conversation. The seat and back consist of vertically divided shells in laminated veneer, joined with a double fitting at the backrest.
