Selandia Outdoor Chair

Selandia is a folding outdoor chair from Fritz Hansen in Denmark, designed in collaboration with Danish architects and designers Anders and Lars Hegelund. The chair is part of the Selandia collection, characterised by soft curves and an elegant Nordic design language with subtle French references.

Selandia is made from teak and features a slender construction with gently curved lines that give the chair its distinctive silhouette. The folding design allows the chair to take up minimal space when not in use and makes it easier to store between uses. The attention to detail can be seen, among other things, in the slotted screws, which are consistently aligned in the same direction, a discreet feature that highlights the craftsmanship behind the construction. Anders and Lars Hegelund have designed several pieces in the Selandia collection and work at the intersection of architecture and design. In Selandia, the collection’s design language is clearly expressed through the interplay of function, carefully considered details and soft proportions. The chair fits naturally around a dining table on the terrace or in the garden.
