Birdie is a ceiling lamp designed in 2002 by the German brand Ingo Maurer. The lamp is made of metal, goose feathers and twelve low-voltage lamps. When the Birdie lamps are manufactured, the metal frame of each individual lamp is shaped by hand, which is an advanced craft. This makes each lamp unique because no two are exactly alike.
Ingo Maurer has created something special with the Birdie collection. Instead of hiding the lamp cords as is usually done, Ingo Maurer has done the opposite. It highlights the simplicity of the lamp - the bulb and the cables come into unique focus.
The lamp belongs to the Birdie collection together with Birdies’s Nest, Birds Birds Birds, Lucellino, Birdie’s Busch, Birdie’s Ring and Seven off the Wall.
