The Alga wool rug Ochre is a hand-knotted rug from the Spanish brand Nanimarquina. Founded by Nani Marquina, Nanimarquina is known for blending contemporary design with traditional techniques in close collaboration with weavers in India and Nepal.
The rug was launched in 2025 as part of the Alga collection, inspired by marine landscapes and seagrass fields. It stands out for its organic shape – hand-knotted on top of a handwoven dhurrie – with texture created through long wool fibres combined with jute. The form gives a dynamic, sculptural appearance while maintaining a functional structure.
Alga is made from a blend of Afghan wool, New Zealand wool, new wool, and jute. The technical construction combines Persian knotting with dhurrie weaving, resulting in a rug with a 40 mm pile and high density. It is suitable for spaces where both tactility and visual dynamism are desired – from bedrooms to lounge environments.
