The light series Akari was created by Noguchi with inspiration taken from traditional Japanese design. The series consists of a total of over 100 luminaires and includes floor, table and ceiling lamps. All of Noguchi's light sculptures are designed in shoji paper, which is made from the bark of mulberry trees. The material provides a soft and atmospheric lighting.
