Screen 100 is a room divider from the Finnish brand Artek. It was designed by Alvar Aalto as part of a recurring organic design language in his furniture and architecture projects. The wave shape is also found in the ceiling of the Viipuri Library lecture hall from 1936 and was shown in its most monumental form at the 1939 World's Fair in New York. The screen is made in Finland from Finnish pine and is designed with vertical wooden slats that roll out into a flexible structure. The choice of material differs from the birch wood that is otherwise common in Aalto's furniture. The furniture can be used as a room divider or as a background in larger interiors. The sculptural wave shape gives visual rhythm and movement to the room and can be easily adapted as needed. The combination of function and form makes the screen suitable for both residential and public environments.
