Tolomeo LED Desk Lamp by Artemide is a former fixture that has taken the world by storm since the first version was designed by Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina in 1987. Tolomeo is available in a variety of designs and is said to be the most popular desk lamp in the world today. What has made Tolomeo so popular is the flexibility of adjusting the entire lamp body with one hand to direct the light exactly where it is needed. Tolomeo is made entirely of aluminum and steel and has a lamp head that can be rotated 360 degrees. The lamp also has a remote balancing system, and an integrated on/off switch, which means that the light only shines if someone is in the room. The lamp is also available as a model with an E27 base, Tolomeo Desk Lamp E27.
No desk lamp should require you to use two hands to set it up correctly. said Michele De Lucchi, and besides that, all variants have in common that they stand for simple function, elegance, and solid craftsmanship. In 1989 Tolomeo's designers received the Compasso d'Oro.
