CH24P Wishbone Chair

The iconic CH24 Wishbone Chair from Carl Hansen, designed by Hans J. Wegner, gets a new interpretation with a soft leather seat. When Wegner designed the chair in 1949, he could hardly have imagined the international design icon it would become. Inspired by antique Chinese furniture, he took as his starting point an international design language and created a new expression for Scandinavian design. His solid knowledge of carpentry and deep respect for wood as a material are reflected in every detail.

For over 70 years, Carl Hansen has manufactured the chair without changing its characteristic design. The Y-shaped backrest and the steam-bent seat are still the same. Behind the seemingly simple expression and lightweight construction lies advanced craftsmanship. The production involves over 100 different steps and each chair is made in Denmark. The fourteen individual parts are carefully assembled and processed by hand, with the care and precision that characterizes the craftsmanship behind the Y chair.

CH24P comes with a leather seat designed to meet different needs and expressions. The aniline leather Terra has a silky matte surface that develops a beautiful patina over time, while the more durable leather types Loke and Thor are designed to better withstand everyday wear and stains.

Wegner never stopped exploring new possibilities in his creation. With a playful and innovative approach, he constantly developed new variations of his ideas. The new interpretation of the Y chair carries this tradition forward and ties in with his original vision of lightness and comfort.
