The 675 Maralunga sofa is part of Cassina's famous I Contemporanei collection and was designed by Vico Magistretti in 1973. Magistretti's designs are characterized by form and function that extend beyond the conventions of design fashion, of which the 675 Maralunga is an excellent example. The sofa won the prestigious Compasso d'Oro award in 1979 for its innovative design. Magistretti inserted a bicycle chain into the upholstery, which allowed the backrest to be raised and lowered. This gave the sofa adaptability and comfort. The well-thought-out shapes and comfort have made the 675 Maralunga a true classic that sets its mark on the room.
