Tessera Overlay Medium is a handwoven wool rug from the Franco-Italian brand cc-tapis. The design was created by the Canadian-American duo Yabu Pushelberg and is part of the Tessera collection, which draws inspiration from ancient mosaic traditions and reinterprets them in a contemporary textile language.
The collection is inspired by tesserae – the small, individual pieces of stone or glass used to form larger mosaic compositions in Roman and Byzantine architecture. In the Overlay version, this visual legacy is reimagined through overlapping forms and an asymmetrical composition that balances structure and freedom.
The rug is handwoven in India using traditional dhurrie techniques and crafted entirely from wool. It features a thin, flat surface with a strong graphic presence, where each section contributes to the overall design in a way that feels both intentional and spontaneous. Tessera Overlay Medium is suitable for dry indoor spaces and is ideal for interiors where historical references and modern design coexist in harmony.
