Circus is a ceiling and wall lamp from Foscarini, Italy, designed by Defne Koz in 1994. The lamp has a simple and distinct design language in which a glossy blown-glass shade is combined with a characteristic metal button positioned at the centre of the fixture.
The rounded glass form gives Circus a soft, cohesive expression, while the metal detail at the centre creates a distinct contrast and becomes a natural part of the design. When the lamp is switched on, the blown glass diffuses a warm, soft glow throughout the room, with an even distribution of light across the curved surface. Circus can be mounted on either the ceiling or the wall, allowing the same form to be used in different ways throughout the interior. The combination of glossy blown glass, metal and the clean geometric form gives the lamp a distinctive character with a focus on material and light.
