Skagerak Design Team for Fritz Hansen
€558
Selandia is an extension leaf from Fritz Hansen in Denmark, designed by Danish furniture designer and architect Mogens Holmriis. It was developed as a complement to the Selandia table, making it possible to create extra space around the table when needed.
The extension leaf is crafted from teak, a material with which Mogens Holmriis has a long-standing and close relationship through his work as a cabinetmaker, architect and designer. His understanding of the properties and aesthetic possibilities of wood is reflected in his approach to furniture design. Selandia is designed to integrate with the Selandia table and features a hole that allows a parasol to be placed through the table. The combination of teak and a carefully considered, functional construction reflects the character of the Selandia series and makes the extension leaf a natural accessory for those who want to adapt the size of the table to suit the occasion. Mogens Holmriis trained as a cabinetmaker in 1974 and later graduated as an architect from the Aarhus School of Architecture in 1985.
