Carlo Scarpa - The Complete Building Architecture Book

This is an architecture book from the American publisher Rizzoli. The book presents all the buildings where Carlo Scarpa has been the responsible architect – either as new production or in the form of redesign of historic structures. The edition contains over 200 photographs with accompanying texts that document his sense of materials, spatial precision and subtle handling of light.

Carlo Scarpa worked mainly during the mid-20th century, but his way of uniting modern architecture with historic environments has gained increasing importance as issues of preservation and sustainability have become central. The book weighs different perspectives on his work and provides a comprehensive introduction to an architect whose projects are often experienced as tactile, detailed and deeply rooted in the place.
