Hexensalbe Eau de Parfum is a perfume from the Swedish perfume house Stora Skuggan. The perfume takes its name and its starting point from hexensalbe, also called witches’ flying ointment, a hallucinogenic ointment that was associated with witchcraft during the Middle Ages. Stories about the ointment and its effects have been linked to the notion of witches flying on broomsticks and traveling to witches’ sabbaths. Stora Skuggan uses this historical mythology as the basis for the composition of the fragrance.
The perfume is based on notes of wormwood, tuberose, rosemary, black wormwood and lichen, along with salty licorice, angelica, belladonna and patchouli. The combination brings together botanical, herbal and earthy elements with licorice as part of the structure of the fragrance. The perfume comes in a 30 ml bottle.
