Beehive A331 was designed by Alvar Aalto in 1953 for the Finnish furniture manufacturer Artek. Originally designed for the University of Jyväskylä in Finland, the lamp became such a popular pendant that it was put into production. The decorative A331 has since become one of Artek's most popular fixtures, as it is as sculptural when switched off as it is when lit. The lamp fits just as well over the dining table as it does in the kitchen or living room. Its sleek design is a definite eye-catcher.
Beehive A331 is made of a lacquered aluminum shade with polished and chrome-plated steel rings.
