The KK47000 Safari Chair is one of Carl Hansen & Søn's most iconic pieces of furniture, designed by Kaare Klint. The safari chair was first exhibited in 1933 at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild exhibition. The idea for the chair originated when Kaare Klint saw some pictures from a safari, taken by an American cinematographer and his wife. These were likely influenced by the Indian Roorkhee chairs used by the British army. However, Klint's imprint is so strong that the KK47000 Safari Chair has a completely unique identity with its well-planned proportions and exquisite contrasts in its materials.

Carl Hansen & Søn's KK47000 Safari Chair is available in various finishes. We have chosen to showcase the chair with a frame of solid white-oiled ash, with the back and cushion upholstered in a lovely natural canvas fabric. All of this is elegantly framed by slender details in light saddle leather and brass. If you are interested in a different finish than what you find in our online store, please feel free to contact our customer service, and we will assist you with your order.
