A Timeless Chair – The Egg

The Egg chair is not just a seating piece, but a work of art in itself. Arne Jacobsen's vision to create a piece of furniture that combines functionality with sculptural beauty was perfectly realized in this chair. Each piece is crafted with the utmost precision using only the finest materials, ensuring a durable product that can be enjoyed for generations. The shell is made of polyurethane reinforced with fiberglass and covered with cold foam for increased durability. It is available in several colors and with upholstery in either fabric or leather. The swivel base is made of satin-polished steel and stands on a foot of molded aluminum, ensuring both stability and elegance. Jacobsen was a pioneer in using advanced manufacturing processes for his time, resulting in a piece that is not only beautiful but also technically sophisticated. With an adjustable tilt mechanism, the chair can be tailored to provide optimal seating comfort. The rounded form and sculptural aesthetics of the chair make it an instant focal point in any room.

Arne Jacobsen and the Egg

Originally designed for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, the Egg showcases Jacobsen's innovative use of materials and techniques. The SAS Royal Hotel, which was the world's first design hotel and Denmark's first skyscraper, opened in 1960. Jacobsen was entirely responsible for the design concept of this hotel, from the building's exterior to the porcelain in the restaurant. Many Danish design icons were introduced here, helping to put Danish design on the world map. At the hotel, one can still find several classics by Arne Jacobsen. The Egg, Swan, and Drop all contribute to the timeless and elegant atmosphere. The Swan shares many of the Egg's features, such as the innovative use of materials and the sculptural form, but has a more streamlined and elegant profile.
