In 1964, The Spanish Dining Armchair was created by Børge Mogensen for Fredericia Furniture. The chair is a fine example of the use of genuine materials of superior quality. The iconic dining chair has a frame of high-quality oak and flawless saddles that only get more beautiful with time. Depending on the finish you want to give The Spanish Dining Armchair, you can choose oak in several finishes: black lacquered, red lacquered, sanded, and oiled. The saddle leather comes in black, natural, and cognac. The chair is also available in a version without armrests that you can combine with this chair for a complete set around the dining table.
It is ironic that one of the most emblematic pieces of Danish design is called the Spanish chair. When Mogensen made the Spanish Dining Armchair and the other chairs in the series, he drew on traditional chairs from other cultures, such as English Windsor chairs and the shaker movement in America. In Spain, sturdy leather was often used to construct the seat as part of the woodwork, and it is from this that the series takes its name.
