The 3130 Grand Prix from Fritz Hansen was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1957 and launched the same year at the Danish Museum of Art & Design in Copenhagen during the Designers Spring Exhibition. Later that year, the chair was exhibited at the Triennale in Milan, where it won the Grand Prix for the show's most outstanding work. Since then, the chair has been known by the same name. Like Arne Jacobsen's Ant and Seven, the Gran Prix is also made of molded veneer. Each chair's shell is created in one piece, consisting of nine layers of veneer and two layers of Indian cotton, which are molded into their correct shape over steam. This gives the chair a comfortable flexibility. The chair is available in several variants, this one upholstered on the front where there are several textiles and leathers to choose from. The 3130 Gran Prix has neat legs made of chrome-plated steel and is stackable.
