The PK20 from Fritz Hansen is an attractive lounge chair designed by Poul Kjærholm in 1968. The chair is manufactured in two finishes, in untreated rattan with an elongated backrest, alternatively with an elongated backrest, a high back, and a cylindrical headrest cushion. For this version of the PK20, the seat is adjustable so that there are several lengths to choose from. The seat rests on a flexible base of satin-polished stainless steel.
Poul Kjærholm created the PK20 with an idea of how material use in the production process of furniture could be made more efficient. The idea was first to use leftover parts from the machine production to create a completely new product. In the end, this was not feasible, but the design for the PK20 remained. An attractive fireplace suitable for both lounges and living rooms. The PK20 in rattan is part of the permanent installation at the renowned Victoria and Albert Museum of Art in London.
