The PK22 armchair is a true design icon from Fritz Hansen, designed by Poul Kjærholm in 1956. For this version of the armchair, the seat and backrest are made of braided, natural-colored rattan. The seat rests on a thin base of bent, satin-brushed spring steel. PK22 is an elegant and discreet armchair that is an excellent example of Poul Kjærholm's qualitative craftsmanship. The design is based on Kjærholm's thesis, PK25, and many similarities can be seen in the design expression. The armchair is also available with a leather-covered seat.
After winning the Grand Prix at the world's leading design fair, the Triennale in Milan, the PK22 became the breakthrough for Poul Kjærholm's career on the international design scene. The armchair was an immediate success when it was introduced.
