Filet is a tea cup from Gien, France, designed to provide a balanced and calm tea-drinking experience. Its hand-painted decoration creates a subtle expression that harmonises with other pieces from Gien’s collections and contributes to a cohesive table setting.
Crafted from earthenware, the cup holds 17.5 cl and is paired with a saucer measuring 14.5 cm in diameter, while the cup itself has a diameter of 8.5 cm. The natural composition of sand, clay and kaolin creates a warm and lively surface that helps retain the temperature of the beverage for longer. Each piece is shaped and finished in Gien’s own workshops through a process involving multiple firings and a series of carefully executed stages carried out by experienced ceramic artisans. The result is a tea cup and saucer set in which the handcrafted expression and material qualities work together in a thoughtfully considered whole, designed to be used and appreciated over time.
