Vichy - Kasthall: The Series' Form and Construction

The Vichy series from Kasthall is characterized by its checkered pattern, inspired by the classic Vichy or Gingham pattern. The woven construction highlights the pattern's graphic expression and provides the rug with an even and stable surface. The combination of structure and pattern allows the series to work in various types of interiors.

The rugs are made from 100% wool with a linen warp. Wool is a durable natural material with naturally dirt-repellent properties and a soft feel underfoot. The material also helps the rug maintain its shape and expression over time. The linen in the warp contributes to stability and durability in the construction.

Furthermore, the woven surface provides sound-absorbing properties, making Vichy suitable for areas such as living rooms, dining rooms, and bedrooms.

Areas of Use and Color Palette

Vichy is a woven wool rug from Swedish Kasthall, designed by Kasthall Design Studio. The collection is based on the classic Vichy pattern, also known as Gingham, where the checkered motif provides a clear graphic expression. The rugs are woven from 100% wool with a linen warp and are manufactured in Kasthall's factory in Kinna.

The collection is available in several colorways, including Cassis 681 and Quince 486, where color combinations vary from more neutral tones to more distinct contrasts. Vichy is offered in several fixed sizes and can also be custom-ordered with widths between 70 and 600 cm.

The woven construction provides the rugs with good durability and sound-absorbing properties, making them suitable for environments such as living rooms, dining rooms, and bedrooms. The rugs are also tested according to European standards for durability and fire safety.

Kasthall's Craftsmanship Tradition

Kasthall has been manufacturing rugs in Kinna since 1889, working with weaving techniques, natural materials, and production in its own factory. Each rug is made with a focus on material, construction, and quality throughout the entire process.

The Vichy series is based on an interpretation of classic checkered patterns and combines traditional weaving techniques with a more contemporary expression. Esther and Poetry also showcase Kasthall's work with structure and material, where wool and linen are used to create distinct textures and varied expressions through different weaving techniques. The collections are developed to function in various types of environments and sizes.

Kasthall works with natural materials and controls the entire manufacturing process from yarn to finished rug, with a focus on sustainable production and long lifespan.
