Nordiska Galleriet is relaunching the iconic Orchestra chair, designed in 1931, in close collaboration with Sven Markelius' family. Sven Markelius (1889–1972) was one of the most influential architects of the 20th century and played a significant role in the introduction of functionalism in Sweden. He was also a skilled designer and often also drew the interiors for his buildings.
The orchestra chair, which was Sweden's first stackable chair, he designed for the world-famous concert hall in Helsingborg in 1931.
The chair comes in six different finishes: White Oiled Oak, Dark Stained Oak, Black Stained Ash, Sky Blue, Ocher Yellow, and Ruby Red.
