The CH25 armchair is one of Hans J. Wegner's greatest classics, and was also one of the very first pieces of furniture he designed for Carl Hansen & Søn. The CH25 was designed in 1949 and went into production the following year. The lounge chair was innovative for its time and received a lot of attention from the start because Wegner was the first to replace seaweed as the typical choice for seats with a new waxed paper cord. This has left a huge mark on the brand's entire range, as well as on subsequent generations of designers.
Here you see the CH25 armchair in solid walnut accompanied by a back and seat in naturally colored paper cord. For the frame you can choose between either a clear lacquer or oiled finish. Behind the armchair there is also an enormous amount of craftsmanship, where it takes the most skilled craftsmen a full 10 hours to braid the beautiful seat from almost 400 meters of cord.
