Buds 1 is a table lamp from Foscarini, Italy, designed by Rodolfo Dordoni in 2016. The lamp is characterised by its elongated form and a clear focus on materials and craftsmanship.
The generous shade is made of blown glass using an advanced process in which five layers are worked by hand. The soft, organic silhouette of the glass gives Buds 1 a sculptural expression, while the enclosing form allows the qualities of the material to take centre stage. The glass shade is combined with a transparent base that creates a light contrast with the fuller upper section. The transparent base gives the shade visual space, allowing its characteristic form to stand out clearly from different angles. The combination of five-layer blown glass, the transparent base and well-balanced proportions gives the Buds 1 table lamp a sophisticated and cohesive expression.
