Solar Outdoor is an outdoor lamp from Foscarini, Italy, designed by Jean Marie Massaud in 2012. The design is based on the idea of the outdoor environment as an extension of the home – a place for socialising, relaxation and spending time together.
The lamp is designed as a contemporary gathering point for a patio or garden. The soft light is combined with a wide surface that also functions as a practical side table, with space for smaller objects. In this way, Solar Outdoor combines lighting and functionality in a single object. The low, circular form gives the lamp a distinct presence and encourages placement in areas where people gather. Solar Outdoor thus serves as both a light source and a functional piece of outdoor furniture, with a design language that blurs the boundary between lighting and furnishings.
