Bascule Bench is a wide footstool from Swiss manufacturer Vitra, designed by Berlin-based Studio Œ as part of the Bascule series. It is designed as a generous footrest for the series’ lounge chairs and follows the same relaxed design language, with soft upholstery and a loose-fitting fabric cover.

Studio Œ drew inspiration from tailoring techniques used in fashion, where materials and construction are designed to allow freedom of movement. On Bascule Bench, the cover wraps around the soft form like a textile shell, contributing to the footstool’s relaxed character. The cover is removable and can be taken off for professional cleaning or replaced. Creases, pressure marks and minor irregularities may occur naturally as a result of the soft upholstery and relaxed fit of the cover. Bascule Bench complements Bascule Highback and Lowback, providing generous support for the legs in a reclined seating position. The footstool belongs to the same furniture family as Bascule Ottoman and is constructed so that its individual components can be repaired or replaced as needed.
