The elegant A811 floor lamp was designed by Alvar Aalto in 1954 for the Finnish furniture manufacturer Artek. It is a timeless icon in functionalist furniture design and has a beautiful and very distinctive expression.
When Alvar Aalto was a child, he was constantly enchanted by filtered and subdued light, which he later explained "like the light streaming in through grandmother's lace curtains on a warm summer day". This resulted in his lighting design taking on the same feeling in the form of light, which is no exception for the beautiful and eye-catching Angel Wing lamp.
The floor lamp has a beautiful and unique hand-riveted, white-lacquered shade of steel slats and a stand covered in black leather. Between the shade and the leather upholstery, there is also an elegant detail in the form of an upper part that is available in either polished brass or nickel-plated brass.
