The iconic 611 chair was created by Alvar Aalto in 1929, before Artek was founded. This is one of the designer's first chairs - and furniture for that matter - to be launched in Artek's first collection. Its clean, simple lines, and functional form, combined with the innovative saddle strap, make the 611 chair one of Aalto's most iconic chairs, which also characterizes his modern architecture that was innovative at the time. Since its creation, the chair has been in constant production because of its high popularity which is a combination of design and functional requirements. The 611 chair can be stacked up to 8 chairs on top of each other, making it a frequent piece of furniture not only in private homes but also in public settings.
