Clam Chair is an armchair from the Dagmar brand. It was designed in 1944 by the Danish upholsterer Arnold Madsen in Copenhagen. The following year, he founded the company Madsen & Schubell together with the cabinetmaker Henry Schubell, with the aim of producing this model, which in Danish was called Muslingstol – the clam chair – due to its sculptural shape.
Dagmar is relaunching the armchair in collaboration with Arnold Madsen’s estate, using a manufacturing method that combines traditional carpentry techniques and modern CNC milling. The armchair is made in Sweden and has a solid beech frame, with linen straps and foam padding. It is upholstered in sheepskin and comes with wooden legs.
