Gert Wingårdh 1951

Gert Wingårdh was born in 1951 in Skövde, Sweden. After graduating from Chalmers University of Technology, he founded his own architectural firm. Wingårdhs arkitekter has since grown to become one of Sweden's most prominent architectural firms, known for its innovative and sustainable design. His projects range from private residences to large public buildings, and he has received several prestigious awards for his work.

Sustainable architecture

Sustainable architecture is a central part of Wingårdh's design philosophy. By integrating environmentally friendly materials and energy-efficient systems into his buildings, he strives to minimize environmental impact and create sustainable solutions for the future. An example of this is Kungsbacka Torg, where sustainability and modern design work together to create an inviting and functional public space. His ability to balance different design aspects makes him a leading figure in sustainable architecture.

At Nordiska Galleriet, there are also practical tables and bar stools from Zanat, designed by Gert Wingårdh. Each table is distinguished by careful attention to detail and a deep understanding of the properties of the materials.

Innovative collaboration with Sara Heldner

Innovative design is another key aspect of his work. By constantly challenging conventional methods and exploring new materials and techniques, he has developed a style that is both unique and adaptable. A prominent example of Wingårdh's versatility is his collaboration with Sara Heldner in creating the award-winning Tattoo Stool from Zanat. Tattoo Stool Bird, one of seven variants of this popular stool, is an artistic masterpiece with a characteristic peacock or pheasant pattern skillfully carved into the seat. The stool won The Interior Innovation Award in 2015 and is available in many different finishes. Wingårdh and Heldner describe the carvings on the stool as symbols of life's contrasts – joy, sorrow, and pain.
