The Kasthall textile company was established in Kinna in 1889 by designer Ludvig Anderson, when electricity was introduced in Sweden. As Sweden’s first industrial rug factory, the reputation of its durable rugs spread quickly throughout the country. More than a century later, the headquarters and factory are still in Kinna.
Kasthall’s rugs are of the highest quality, thanks in large part to the long tradition of craftsmanship that the company upholds. Tradition, expertise and quality are important pillars, and the rugs are produced to last for generations. All Kasthall rugs are custom-made and tailored to the specific needs of the customer. Each rug is therefore unique and carefully quality-controlled. After inspection, the rug receives a hand-signed leather label. According to Kasthall, every customer is unique, and so is every rug.
As well as working with quality, Kasthall also works with the utmost respect for the environment. Everything is produced with as little impact as possible. This is achieved by controlling the entire production process, from yarn to finished rug. Tradition and new methods meet here, combined with a commitment to quality, creating the very best rugs. Gunilla Lagerheim Ullberg has long been a leading name at Kasthall. She has been creating Kasthall’s best products for the past 30 years. As head designer at Kasthall for 17 years and thus holding a major role in the industry, she is known as “The Queen of Rugs”.
Kasthall rugs have a unique history, with knowledge handed down for over a century. Combined with new design trends and ideas, they now create rugs that are as durable as they are interesting and innovative. Today the company has more than 100 employees. Kasthall currently has a presence in around 30 countries all over the world and has showrooms in Stockholm, Milan and New York. Kasthall also invites internationally renowned designers and architects into coveted collaborations, where Swedish tradition draws on influences from every corner of the globe. The textile manufacturer is also a purveyor to the royal court.
