Lilla Åland Chair

Lilla Åland Chair is designed by Carl Malmsten for the Stolab brand. The classic chair is available in either solid birch or oak and can be called the peg chair of peg chairs, Carl Malmsten's best-selling and most beloved piece of furniture. Although the Lilla Åland Chair may seem simple in shape, its soft shapes and turned pegs make it a well-crafted chair and a natural among the Swedish furniture classics from the 20th century. The Lilla Åland Chair fits into many different environments and is very comfortable thanks to the hollowed seat.

The inspiration for the Lilla Åland Chair comes from Finströms Kyrka on Åland, where Malmsten held a craft course in 1938. From the village carpenter's hand-turned chair, he developed the very core, then the drawing was adapted for production at Stolfabriks AB in Smålandsstenar, which was Stolab's name at the time. In 1942, the Lilla Åland Chair received its well-known design, which it still has today. A matching cushion in three colors is also available for purchase for the Lilla Åland Chair. The Lilla Åland series also includes an armchair and two children's chairs.
